Memorial Day Weekend in OCNJ

Are you as excited as we are too kick off Memorial Day weekend? There’s plenty of ways to welcome the summer season, and observe Memorial Day here in Ocean City, NJ, beginning on Friday!

Can you think of a better way to begin the long weekend than by dressing in a business suit, carrying a briefcase, and marching into the ocean to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance?” Welcome the new season and celebrate the annual Unlocking of the Ocean on Friday, May 25, at Moorlyn Terrace St. Beach at 12 noon. The Memorial Beach Challenge and Kids Fun Run takes place Saturday, May 26, at from 6 am – 10 am at the 9th Street Beach.   Proceeds from the obstacle course challenge benefit The 31Heroes Project. Enjoy a free concert of show tunes and patriotic favorites given by the Bucks County Singers of Newtown, PA, at the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk) on Saturday, May 26, at 3:30 pm.

OCNJ Treasure Hunt

Know a child who loves searching for treasure in the sand? If so, they’ll have a wonderful time at the “On Cloud Nine” Treasure Hunt taking place this Saturday, 5/19.

Children ages 13 and under will have fun searching for buried treasures such as foreign coins that they can keep. They will also find raffle tickets for a chance to win larger prizes.  Registration starts at 9 am, and the hunt begins at 11 am at the Music Pier. Admission is $5.

The event is sponsored by The East Coast Research and Discovery Association (ECRDA), the Northeast’s largest treasure-hunting club. Since 1983, the ECRDA has promoted the hobby of treasure hunting among adults and children.

Girls Weekend

Grab your girlfriends, and come over to OCNJ this weekend (4/6 – 4/8) – it’s Girls Weekend, and it’s going to be a great time! The fun starts on Friday, 4/6 at 7 pm with the Fashion Show Kickoff at Glazed Over Studios (704 Asbury Ave) at 7 pm. Tickets are $20 and can be bought at City Hall, the Route 52 Welcome Center, Ta-Dah (1040 Asbury Ave), and the 7th Street Surf Shop (720 Asbury Ave).

Take a yoga class, run a 5K, create your own sign, painting, sea glass votive, floral crown, and more!  The event also features hotel and bed-and-breakfast packages, dining offers and shopping discounts. Reigning Miss America, Cara Mund will be in OCNJ to open and close Girls Weekend.
