Miss New Jersey Pageant 2018

Contestants arrived in Ocean City today to get ready for the 2018 Miss New Jersey Pageant.

The fun kicks off with a Boardwalk parade at 7 pm this Wednesday, June 13.  Cheer on all 28 contestants and current Miss New Jersey, Kaitlyn Schoeffel, as they don costumes and shoes matching this year’s theme “Women in History.”

The preliminaries start at 7 p.m. June 14 and 15, with the finals on June 16th , where Miss New Jersey 2018 will be crowned. It all happens at the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace & Boardwalk). Memorial Day Weekend in OCNJ

Are you as excited as we are too kick off Memorial Day weekend? There’s plenty of ways to welcome the summer season, and observe Memorial Day here in Ocean City, NJ, beginning on Friday!

Can you think of a better way to begin the long weekend than by dressing in a business suit, carrying a briefcase, and marching into the ocean to the tune of “Pomp and Circumstance?” Welcome the new season and celebrate the annual Unlocking of the Ocean on Friday, May 25, at Moorlyn Terrace St. Beach at 12 noon. The Memorial Beach Challenge and Kids Fun Run takes place Saturday, May 26, at from 6 am – 10 am at the 9th Street Beach.   Proceeds from the obstacle course challenge benefit The 31Heroes Project. Enjoy a free concert of show tunes and patriotic favorites given by the Bucks County Singers of Newtown, PA, at the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk) on Saturday, May 26, at 3:30 pm.

OCNJ Treasure Hunt

Know a child who loves searching for treasure in the sand? If so, they’ll have a wonderful time at the “On Cloud Nine” Treasure Hunt taking place this Saturday, 5/19.

Children ages 13 and under will have fun searching for buried treasures such as foreign coins that they can keep. They will also find raffle tickets for a chance to win larger prizes.  Registration starts at 9 am, and the hunt begins at 11 am at the Music Pier. Admission is $5.

The event is sponsored by The East Coast Research and Discovery Association (ECRDA), the Northeast’s largest treasure-hunting club. Since 1983, the ECRDA has promoted the hobby of treasure hunting among adults and children.

OCNJ Sports Memorabilia Show

Are you a sports fan, an athlete, or do you collect sports memorabilia? If so, you’ll want to check out OCNJ’s new event, the Sports Memorabilia Show.  The show will take place at the Ocean City Music Pier (825 Boardwalk) this weekend, Saturday 4/28 and Sunday 4/29.

You’ll find events and table sales dedicated to athletes, fans and collectors. Celebrity guests will also be  there.  The show runs from 10 am – 4 pm both days.

Spring Weather is Arriving in OCNJ

It may not feel like it today, but we promise, Spring weather really is arriving in Ocean City, NJ! We got a nice taste of it this past Saturday – it was a wonderful day for cheering on the over 500 basset hounds that took over the boardwalk all dressed up!

Reminder to Get Your Discounted Seasonal Beach Tags

The summer season is just around the corner! Do you have your OCNJ beach tags for the 2018 season? They are required for all beachgoers ages 12 and up visiting an OCNJ beach from June 2 – September 3 of 2018. If purchased by May 31, seasonal tags cost $20. They are available for online purchase here, but must be ordered by May 16th to allow time for delivery.

You can also purchase your beach tags at the following locations:

City Hall (9th and Asbury), Mon-Fri, 8:45 am to 4:30 pm; Sat-Sun 10-4
Rt. 52 Welcome Center, Mon-Fri, 9-4:30; Sat 9-4; Sun 9-2 (winter hours)
Henry Knight Building (12th and Haven), Mon-Fri, 9-4 (no holidays)
46th Street Welcome Center (46th and West) now open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. six days (closed Wed.)
Music Pier (Moorlyn Terr & Boardwalk) open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends beginning Palm Sunday weekend (3/24)
Aquatic & Fitness Ctr (17th and Simpson), Mon-Fri 5 am-9 pm; Sat 7-6; Sun 9-6 (no holidays)

Weekly, Daily and Military beach tags will be available at a later date for purchase in person.

Funds from beach tag sales help to offset the local municipalities cost of maintaining their beaches and providing lifeguards and other services such as trash removal, beach cleaning and the purchase of needed equipment and police protection.

Discounted Ride Tickets Now on Sale for a Limited Time

Planning to hit the amusements this summer in OCNJ? Right now both Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and Playland’s Castaway Cove are having a great sale, so it’s the perfect time to stock up on those tickets!

Gillian’s Wonderland Pier:

Tickets never expire at Gillian’s, an amusement park with 31 rides and attractions.  Purchase discounted tickets online at https://www.gillians.com or in person through 4/2 from noon – 6 pm daily at Stainton’s Shops located at 810 Asbury Avenue, or Wonderland Pier located at 6th and Boardwalk.

Playland’s Castaway Cove:

Ocean City’s oldest amusement park has a selection of over 32 rides. Half-price ride tickets are on sale online at https://oceancityfun.com/ticket-sales/,  or in person through 4/8, noon – 5 pm daily at 10th and Boardwalk (under the pirate ship). Tickets never expire.

And you don’t even need to wait until this summer to use them! Rides are already open on weekends at Gillian’s, and they open on weekends at Playland’s starting April 7!
