Did you know that January through March is the busiest booking time for the 2019 summer season?

If you are thinking about a rental, this is a great time to make your selection.  Here are a few questions that you should ask yourself before you start your search:

  1. How many people will be staying at your house? How many bedrooms will you need?
  2. When it comes to location do you want to be near the: beach, bay, boardwalk, playground…etc.
  3. Time frame: What month would you like to come to Ocean City, NJ and how long would you like to stay?
  4. What is your budget?

Hermit Crab Fun in OCNJ

Have a hermit crab?

Your crustacean is invited to participate in the Miss Crustacean Hermit Crab Beauty Pageant taking place at the Sixth Street Beach on Wednesday, August 15th .  Families, kids of all ages, businesses and organizations may enter their crustacean in this annual beauty contest.  The winner will receive the coveted Cucumber Rind Cup and get to walk down a flowery runway! Registration is free and starts at 5:30 p.m.  The contest begins at 6 p.m.

And you may want to schedule in some training sessions for your hermit crab friend. Following the beauty pageant some of the fastest crabs in the universe will compete for the King of Klutz Plaque. Plan to cheer them on! For more information call 609-399-6111.

109th Annual OCNJ Baby Parade

We’re pretty sure you’ll go goo goo and ga ga over this parade!

One of America’s longest running baby parades takes place this Thursday, 8/9, on the Ocean City boardwalk between 6th St.  and 12th St. from 10:30 am – 12 noon.

There will be bands, special guests, and a ton of adorable babies in themed strollers, wagons and floats. Specialty and overall awards will be presented.

Art of Surfing Festival & OCBP Women’s Lifeguard Invitational Races

There are two fun events taking place this week in OCNJ revolving around the ocean!

If you love art and surfing, you’ll want to stop by the annual Art of Surfing Festival. This 18-year-old art festival gives surf artists the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work.

This year’s festival takes place at the Music Pier Thursday, 8/2 – Saturday, 8/4.  Enjoy the art, meet the artists from across the country, listen to live music, take a yoga class, and attend a book signing by Gidget. Admission is free.  To see the full schedule please visit here.

On Thursday night, 8/2, from 6 – 8 pm on the 34th Street Beach, cheer on your favorites at the OCBP Women’s Lifeguard Invitational Races. Women representing 15 beach patrols on the South Jersey coast will be competing! For more information call 609.399.6111.

Bike and Fish in OCNJ

Looking for a new bike? You may find one at the Ocean City Bicycle Auction taking place today, Monday, 7/16, from 10 am – noon at the Shelter Road Vehicle Compound (first left off of Tennessee Ave., behind the golf course).

Bid on over 100 unclaimed and abandoned bicycles and other items, such as surfboards and kayaks. Registration begins at 9 am and a driver’s license, passport or valid I.D. is required. All items are sold “as is/where is”, with no warranties applied or offered.  Bank checks with I.D., traveler’s checks and cash only will be accepted. Later in the week, if you have ever wanted to tour the Ocean City Fishing Club’s pier and clubhouse at 14th St. & Boardwalk, you’ll have your chance. On Thursday, July 19th , from 6 – 8 pm, and again on Thursday, August 2nd , the pier will be open to all.  This is a great photo taking opportunity! Tuesdays in OCNJ

Ocean City, NJ, is fun every day of the week – but Tuesdays are simply Funtastic!

Funtastic Tuesdays take place from 10 am – 1 pm on Asbury Avenue in Downtown Ocean City.  The kids will enjoy entertainment, balloon sculptors, face painters and pony rides.

Here are a couple other reasons why Tuesdays in OCNJ are fantastic:

A fun children’s show takes place every Tuesday at 10:30 am at the Music Pier in July, part of Children’s Theatre Series presented by the Ocean City Theatre Company. Upcoming shows include Junie B. Jones the Musical, The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, Sleeping Beauty, and Miss Nelson is Missing. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of. If you plan to take a stroll on the boardwalk on a Tuesday night, don’t be surprised if you find yourself dancing to the music.  The Mummers will make an appearance every Tuesday night through August 28 between Sixth Street and 14th Street from 7 pm – 9 pm on the boardwalk. Different string bands will strut the boards each week in colorful attire. It’s a fun time for all!

Happy Fourth of July!

Ocean City, NJ, is a wonderful place to celebrate the Fourth of July! Not only do we have the beautiful beaches and boardwalk, but there are so many activities.  So grab your red, white, and blue, and enjoy some of these fun happenings:

Begin your day at the Farmers Market, open from 8 am – 1 pm every Wednesday through September 5 at the Tabernacle Grounds (6th and Asbury).

There are two July 4th  bike parades to choose from and they both begin at 10 am. Registration starts at 9 am at 40th and Asbury Ave for the parade sponsored by the South OC Improvement Association. And registration for the parade sponsored by the Gardens Civic Association begins at 9 am at the Longport Bridge parking lot.

Get a taste of old-fashioned apple and cherry pie during the Wacky Wednesday Pie Eating Contest taking place at the Music Pier (Moorlyn Terrace & Boardwalk) at 10:30 am. The contest is open to all ages, but limited to 150 participants.

Listen to the Ocean City Theater Company’s Spotlight Performers Show Choir as they present “A Star Spangled Salute” at 6 pm in front of the Music Pier.

Keep your eyes on the sky for beautiful kites – a kite flying competition begins at 7 pm followed by entertainment.

July 4th wouldn’t be complete without a spectacular fireworks display.  Get a great view from the boardwalk at 9 pm.

2018 Ocean City Antique Auto Show & Boardwalk Parade

If you are into antique cars, you’ll want to check out the 2018 Ocean City Antique Auto Show & Boardwalk Parade taking place this Saturday, June 23, from 9 am – 2 pm on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle, 6th and Asbury Ave.

Come and see over 300 vintage vehicles at this event, now in its 63rd year.  A fun time for all ages, this event is free to the public, with a registration fee for automobile owners. To register, please visit jerseycape.aaca.com.  For more information call 609-399-6111.
