Looking for fun for the whole family this New Year’s Eve? Ocean City’s First Night New Year’s Eve Celebration taking place on Saturday, Dec. 31 from 4 pm – midnight is sure to be a great time for all!
The annual event offers over 60 entertainment programs guaranteed to delight people of all ages. Entertainment includes magicians, jugglers, puppeteers, music, comedy, popular children’s shows and much more. The rides at Gillian’s Wonderland Pier will be in operation, and new this year, the skate park will be open with a DJ playing music. First Night concludes with a giant fireworks display at midnight. Admission price for all First Night events is only $20. Parking is free in Ocean City in the winter. All entertainment sites are in walking distance of each other, and Jitneys are provided for button holders.
After a full night of partying, start off the new year with a boardwalk 5K run and walk. The First Run/Walk is on Sunday, January 1, at 1 pm. Registration takes place at the Ocean City Sports & Civic Center at 6th Street and the Boardwalk from 11 am -12:30 pm. Then brave the chilly waters and take a dip in the ocean alongside hundreds of other beach enthusiasts at First Day at the Beach at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. There will be many fun beach activities and games. Registration starts at noon, with the first dip at 2 pm. Call 609-399-1412 for more details.
And, if you’d like to get a little shopping in, the First Day Shopping Extravaganza features downtown shopping specials, plus free horse-and-carriage rides from noon – 3 p.m. at City Hall.
