ocbor-warmth-for-the-winter-drive

The Ocean City Board of REALTORS® Fall community service project is still underway! They are collecting new or gently-used coats, sweaters, blankets, snow boots, hats, scarves, and more through December 9th.

The Warmth for the Winter Drive will donate these items to OCNJ’s Ecumenical Clothes Closet to provide for needy families. While all donations are greatly appreciated, this winter children’s coats and snow boots, and men and women’s sweatshirts and pants are especially needed. Monetary donations will also be accepted, and funds will be used to purchase items of need as requested by the Ecumenical Clothes Closet.

Clothing donations may be dropped off at the Board of Realtors office at 405 22nd Street. To arrange for clothing pickups, please call the office at (609) 399-0128. The office is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Clothes are given out at the Ecumenical Clothes Closet at Fifth Street and West Avenue. The hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Any leftover clothing will be donated to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter.

For more information please contact Vicki Heebner at (609) 399-0128 or Vicki@ocbor.com.

Last month, the fourth phase of a multi-year Ocean City Boardwalk reconstruction project began. The construction is part of a five-year project to completely replace the boardwalk between Fifth Street and 12th Street. The work runs only in the off-season and began at Fifth Street in the Fall of 2013. It will finish at 12th Street in the off-season of 2017-18 — with additional boardwalk ramp replacements in 2018-19.

The boardwalk is currently closed between Eighth Street and 10th Street, and the work is expected to be completed by the end of March 2017, although the section between Eighth Street and the Ocean City Music Pier is scheduled to open by First Night on Dec. 31.

Pedestrians and cyclists – that means detours! You will be detoured off the boardwalk at Plymouth Place (to Atlantic Avenue, to Ninth Street, to Ocean Avenue) and back on at 10th Street.  This route adds about 0.38 miles to a trip the length of the boardwalk (from 2.45 miles to 2.83 miles).
